A client-side plugin for Worms Ultimate Mayhem that adds two game styles, four Weapon Factory presets, control fixes and on-screen control hints to the vanilla game. Kanly is Dune’s word for a formal vendetta fought under agreed rules. Besides data it ships one small Lua script (the controls and hints) and a few HUD sprites; no game file, and nothing derived from one.

  • A Kanly game style: a short, hard match. It is the Standard style with a five minute round, after which sudden death starts and the water rises fast, and a loadout whose weapons unlock as the match goes on and run out after a few uses.
  • A Kanly Melee game style: the same timings, but only close-range weapons, grenades, utilities and tools; the ranged and strike weapons are banned and never drop from crates.
  • Four Weapon Factory presets: Kanly Red, Kanly Blue, Kanly Green and Kanly Yellow, each a vanilla preset with a few numbers changed.
  1. Enable the plugin in Melange (needs Melange 0.8.0 or later) and start the game.
  2. Choose the style in Local Game > Versus > Deathmatch > Game Style > Kanly or Kanly Melee. The same list is used by the other local modes. The list is alphabetical, so they sit between their neighbours.
  3. A team’s custom weapon is chosen in My Worms > Customise > Edit Team. The Kanly presets are in the list of Weapon Factory presets there.

Everything not listed here is as in Standard (100 health, two wins, 45 second turns, the same crates).

Setting Kanly Standard
Round time 5 minutes 20 minutes
Sudden death Raise Water Raise Water
Water rise speed Fast Medium

In the game’s own style editor these are the Sudden Death and Water Rise Speed options (in the scheme data, SuddenDeath 0 is 1 Health, 1 is Raise Water and 2 is Draw Round; WaterSpeed 1 to 3 is Slow to Fast). When the round clock runs out the water starts to rise, and it rises fast.

Weapons are not all there from the start. Each has an unlock turn (the scheme’s Delay) and a small ammo count, so the match opens with basics and escalates, and a weapon is gone once its ammo is used up. Nothing is unlimited. Crates stay on, so more can still be found.

Tier Unlocks at Weapons
Basics and utilities Start Bazooka, Grenade, Shotgun, Baseball Bat, Fire Punch, Prod, Landmine, Girder, Ninja Rope, Parachute, Jetpack, Binoculars, Skip Go, Surrender, Select Worm, Crate Spy
Mid Turn 1 Cluster Grenade, Dynamite, Sheep, Gas Canister, Homing Missile, Airstrike, Sniper Rifle, Poison Arrow, Redbull, Armour, Double Damage
Heavy Turn 2 Holy Hand Grenade, Banana Bomb, Super Sheep, Old Woman, Scouser, No More Nails, Bubble Trouble, Sentry Gun, Crate Shower
Super Turn 3 Concrete Donkey, Super Airstrike, Fatkins, Starburst, Flood, Alien Abduction, Weapon Factory weapon

Basics get 3 to 4 uses (utilities 2 to 3), the mid tier 2 (the power-ups 1), the heavy and super tiers 1, so those vanish after one use.

The 15 mystery crate entries are not named in the file; the "*" entry (applied to all 58 entries first) gives them 1 ammo and unlock turn 1. The unlock turn is the game’s turn count, as in Standard where the Holy Hand Grenade reads “Delayed” until the third turn; the tiers are kept short (1, 2 and 3) so that even if the count is per team, the super weapons arrive inside the five minute round rather than after the water starts rising. This is the scheme’s Delay field and its exact counting (global or per team) has not been verified in game. Whether a crate hands out a weapon that is still delayed has also not been verified.

A melee-only variant of Kanly. Round time, sudden death and water speed are as in Kanly above, and the same unlock and ammo idea applies (nothing unlimited, weapons vanish when used up); everything else is Standard. Crates and mystery boxes stay on. The 15 mystery entries keep their Standard values. There is no super tier: the strongest allowed weapons (Holy Hand Grenade, Banana Bomb, Old Woman) unlock at turn 2 with 1 use.

Allowed weapons (crate weight as in Standard):

Weapon Unlocks at (turn) Ammo
BaseballBat 0 4
Binoculars 0 2
CrateSpy 0 2
FirePunch 0 3
Girder 0 3
Grenade 0 4

Redbull 1 1
Sheep 1 2
BananaBomb 2 1
HolyHandGrenade 2 1
OldWoman 2 1

Banned weapons (ammo 0, and crate weight 0 so crates never drop them): Bazooka, Homing Missile, Shotgun, Sniper Rifle, Poison Arrow, Sentry Gun, No More Nails, Bubble Trouble, Starburst, Super Sheep, Weapon Factory weapon, Airstrike, Super Airstrike, Concrete Donkey, Fatkins, Alien Abduction, Scouser, Flood, Crate Shower.

The Weapon Factory weapon is banned, so the Kanly presets (and any other factory preset) are not usable in Kanly Melee.

Preset Based on Changes
Kanly Red Wipe Out Worm damage 1.0 to 1.15
Kanly Blue Chatter Bomb Worm damage 1.0 to 1.2, land damage radius 0.4 to 0.6
Kanly Green Knee Trembler Cluster is poisonous
Kanly Yellow The Peace Breaker Weapon push 0 to 0.8

All four are stock presets.

Needs Melange 0.8.0 or later. All of these are in Melange > Mods > Kanly.

Setting What it does
3rd-person camera Y game leaves the game’s own direction, standard is mouse up looks up, inverted is the opposite. Default standard.
Aim Y (first person) The same choice for aiming and first-person view. Default game.
Apply camera invert in Blimp view The game skips the invert in Blimp view; on, the camera setting applies there too. Default on.
Camera sensitivity 0.25 to 3.0, scales the camera mouse movement (the 3rd-person and spectator cameras). Default 1.0.
Aim sensitivity 0.25 to 3.0, scales aiming with the mouse. Default 1.0.
Control hints off, learning or always. See below. Default learning.
Controls legend key F1 or Ctrl+H. Default F1.

Hints. On your own turn, up to three small prompts (a key or mouse glyph and a short label, such as RMB Weapons) appear at the bottom centre. They fade in, fade out after about eight seconds without a change of context, and hide while a projectile is in flight. They follow what you are doing: walking, aiming a weapon, first-person aiming (which lasts while you hold the first-person key, Q by default), the ninja rope, the jetpack, placing a girder. The key names come from the game’s own key bindings. In learning mode each prompt retires after you have used it three times (aiming and looking are counted by the time you spend in them); always never retires them. off draws nothing. Prompts only show on a human player’s own turn on this machine, never on CPU or other players’ turns or to spectators.

Legend. Press the legend key at any time in a match to show the full list of controls, and press it again to hide it.

First match. After installing, the first match shows a one-line note that the camera Y is set to standard and where to change it.

Other players and lockstep. Control changes happen on your machine before the input is sent, so other players see the same result and lockstep is unaffected. Nobody else needs the plugin for these. Mouse smoothing is not a Kanly setting: it is a Melange setting, SmoothMouse under [Controls] in Melange.ini.

When sudden death starts, the game’s sudden-death track is replaced by the four Kanly tracks, in a random order per match, chained one after another. The first track is never the same as the previous match’s first track. Each machine picks its own order, so players in the same match may hear different orders. The vanilla sudden-death commentary stays.

Title Original title
Ash Ridge Slaughter at Ash Ridge
Ash Ridge Reprise Slaughter at Ash Ridge (second mix)
Alabaster Purge The Alabaster Purge (violin) x Ashes of Elysium (piano) mashup
Elysium Ashes Ashes of Elysium (piano) x Ashes of Elysium mashup

The music files are the author’s own work.

"kind": "client-only" in spice.json (the script only reads game state, draws, and sets Melange’s input options), with no permissions (unsafe is false, filesystem is none). The plugin declares two schemes entries and four factoryWeapons entries, which Melange adds to the game’s own lists at the frontend. A host’s style reaches the other players by the vanilla protocol, and a team stores only the preset’s name, so a team’s preset needs no plugin on the peers, but the style list positions shift with the plugin’s styles, so the host and every peer should run the same Kanly version (1.3.0 or later) to agree on which style is chosen. A peer without it may see the raw key (FETXT.Scheme.Kanly or FETXT.Scheme.KanlyMelee) as the style name in the lobby; this has not been verified.

  • Needs Melange 0.8.0 or later and game build 1077.
  • Adding a style shifts the positions in the game style list, so on netplay the host and every peer need the same Kanly version (1.3.0 or later).
  • The styles appear as permanent built-in styles: they cannot be edited or deleted in game.
  • The style’s settings are fixed in the plugin’s files; to change them edit mod/schemes/kanly.json or mod/schemes/kanly-melee.json.
  • The music is only heard by players with the plugin. Tracks are joined with a hard cut. Only the sudden-death slot exists.
  • That the presets are listed in the team editor is expected to work the same way as the style but has not been verified in game.

Weapons now unlock as the match progresses and run out after a few uses, in both styles.

  • Kanly: weapons have an unlock turn (Delay) in four tiers, start, turn 1, turn 2 and turn 3. The match opens with basics and utilities; mid-tier weapons come at turn 1, heavy ones at turn 2, and the super weapons (Concrete Donkey, Super Airstrike, Fatkins, Starburst, Flood, Alien Abduction, Weapon Factory weapon) at turn 3.
  • Ammo is cut hard: basics 3 to 4, utilities 2 to 3, mid tier 2 (power-ups 1), heavy and super weapons 1. Nothing is unlimited and crates stay on.
  • The 15 mystery crate entries now get 1 ammo and unlock at turn 1.
  • Kanly Melee: the same tiers for the allowed weapons (no super tier), same bans.
  • Netplay: the host and every peer need Kanly 1.3.0.

Released 2026-10-10 · Melange 0.8.0 or later · kanly-1.2.0.zip (16 MB)

SHA-256 c7c745e879a0ef16cd1b4ba523a825684203be5c34596d3a0241e7e586c5bb97

Adds a second game style, Kanly Melee.

  • Kanly Melee: the Kanly timings (five minute round, then fast-rising water) with close-range weapons only. Bazooka, Homing Missile, Shotgun, Sniper Rifle, Poison Arrow, Sentry Gun, No More Nails, Bubble Trouble, Starburst, Super Sheep, Weapon Factory weapon, both airstrikes, Concrete Donkey, Fatkins, Alien Abduction, Scouser, Flood and Crate Shower are removed from the loadout and from crates. Fire Punch and Prod get 5 uses each (2 in Kanly).
  • Fix to the docs: Kanly’s 15 mystery crate entries get 10 ammo and no delay, they are not left as in Standard.
  • Netplay: the host and every peer need Kanly 1.2.0, because the game style list positions shift with the new style.

Released 2026-10-09 · Melange 0.8.0 or later · kanly-1.1.0.zip (16 MB)

SHA-256 b71a7ea733673c709584dc2c8f1e8226cf4bbc3cfe4ea6b73995af31a6976d0a

Adds control fixes and control hints. Needs Melange 0.8.0 or later.

  • Camera and aim: choose the 3rd-person camera Y direction (game, standard or inverted; standard is the new default), the first-person aim Y direction, whether the camera invert also applies in Blimp view, and a camera and an aim mouse sensitivity.
  • Control hints: short, faded key and mouse prompts at the bottom centre on your own turn (off, learning or always). In learning mode a prompt disappears after you have used it three times.
  • Controls legend: press F1 (or Ctrl+H, a setting) during a match for the full control list.
  • A one-time note on the first match about the camera Y default.
